354611 2005-05-13 04:10:00 I have decided to go upgrade. Your expertise is needed. The equipment out there now is so vast so advise on changes will also be appreciated. This is all from newegg.com. Also, what do you think of the MSI motherboards? The RAM is the same on both setups. Are these systems compatible.

Setup 1: AMD CPU
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard
www.newegg.com
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Winchester Integrated into Chip FSB Socket 939 Processor Model ADA3000BIBOX
www.newegg.com
Kingston ValueRAM 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered System Memory Model KVR400X64C25/512

Setup 2: intel CPU
ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe Socket 478 Intel 875P ATX Intel Motherboard
www.newegg.com
intel Pentium 4 2.53 Northwood 533MHz FSB Socket 478 Processor Model BX80532PE2533D
www.newegg.com
Kingston ValueRAM 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered System Memory Model KVR400X64C25/512

Thank for your help.

354612 2005-05-13 05:29:00 Personally I would go with AMD Overdrive_5000 (4950)
354613 2005-05-13 10:20:00 This one:

354614 2005-05-13 11:04:00 Either of those systems would be fine, I personally purchased the AMD option myself. I would HEAVILY recommend that you get some extra RAM in that systemm though. Jeremy (1197)
354615 2005-05-13 13:17:00 Sounds like AMD it is. More RAM on board, I was thinking that as well. Any advantage to two 512MB vs one 1GB stick (other than it takes up an extra slot). Hawkflyer (8097)
354616 2005-05-13 13:24:00 Looks as the board will support dual channel so two sticks are better than one. Rob99 (151)
354617 2005-05-14 02:50:00 Hi Hawkflyer,

You might like to have a read of this Anandtech (www.anandtech.com) article which gives a comparitive test of the boards you are looking at. In a nutshell it implies that you might be better off with the Lan Party (www.newegg.com) motherboard which is only a couple of dollars more.
