Now before I go on can some on tell me what’s the defences between a laptop & a notebook???

Now I am interested in purchasing a Laptop & I am looking for some suggestions / feedback

I am mainly going to use it for browsing the web/e-mail/ Web design work/ Graphs work & possible listen to some music/movies as well & use it out & about showing clients web sites & showing photos & Possible doing thing live eg posting photos etc… from live events etc…. & I also will be using MS office applications.

I am not sure what specs I should be looking for...

A few days ago I seen an ad on tv from Dick Smith & They where adverting laptops I think theses are the ones that where on TV:

354324 2005-05-12 06:07:00 Geez, why don't you try and butter everyone up before asking your question?

muhahahaha.

Anyhow, out of those I would take the Asus in a heartbeat, though check out if the viewable image diminishes from an angle, that won't go well if your try and show people whats on the screen.

As to the ps2 port, No.

Get a usb mouse with the bundle if their isn't one already.

354325 2005-05-12 06:08:00 Actually, there is a fair bit of price difference in what you listed, why not buy a $2000 Asus if your budget goes that far? Metla (12)

A notebook is just what some people call a laptop .

I suggest looking at Apple's 15-inch PowerBook ( . apple . com/powerbook/" target="_blank">www . apple . com) . :)

354327 2005-05-12 06:13:00 A laptop and a notebook are the same thing, it is all marketing hype with the names.

Not all notebooks have a PS2 port. Saw someone caught by this the other day. Theirs had USB only.

If possible go for a notebook with a Centrino chipset. Slower clock speed but still good performance. Longer battery life and much cooler running.

Laptops with fast Pentium "desktop" CPUs in them often have severe overheating problems. Google will show you that.

There have been recent posts here on the subject of laptops, look those up.

Ok, Can you explain a wee bit more if you don’t mind Metla?, Thanks

OK, I will look in to that

354329 2005-05-12 07:41:00 Laptops with fast Pentium "desktop" CPUs in them often have severe overheating problems. Google will show you that.

So I guess The ACER Extensa Notebook 2501LM
www.dse.co.nz
is a no go as it has a: CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz (400MHz FSB)

& the ASUS Notebook A4L C2.8 40GB
www.dse.co.nz

Has a CPU: Intel Celeron 2.8GHz (533Mhz FSB & 256K Cache) so that’s no good as well as it I guess it will get too hot?

& The Acer 3002LC Notebook
www.dse.co.nz
I guess would be ok as it has a Processor: AMD Mobile Sempron 2800+ (1.6GHz, 256KB L2 cache, 1.6GHz bus) but it has Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

So Dick Smith is not the best place to get a laptop then? So dad must be right dell must be a bit better?
