355254 2005-05-15 04:06:00 Well actually it doesn't really burn the wood. I have used the thing for ages now and noticed that the laminated wood panel that is my keyboard/mouse shelf has deposits of what looks like carbon under where the mouse light shines. I am so intriqued by this that I have deliberately left it to accumulate over the last few months. My study is vacuumed every week and is in a clean condition, so I don't think its dust. But I am intriqued - any theories of what is happening? The deposit feels slightly greasy and is easily cleaned off.

Tom (very curious about a thoroughly unimportant problem).

I suggest an urgent and rigorous potty training regime for your rodent to eliminate this unhealthy behaviour coupled with a change of diet and provision of ablutionary products (water, soap & tiolet tissue) .

355256 2005-05-15 04:20:00 Probably the same stuff that accumulates on every mouse in the world ..... finger oils/grease/mud/"stuff". Rugrats (6953)
355257 2005-05-15 04:49:00 I have the same problem but the stuff is easy to get rid off just scrape it off the desk  Overdrive_5000 (4950)

both will do the job

355259 2005-05-15 05:58:00 Just a quick reply to those who have suggested easy clean methods. Agreed. But I thought I made the point in my original email that the stuff is already extremely easy to shift. There really isn't any problem - I'm just intriqued with what it could be.
I will however take the suggestion to potty train my mouse. I have rubbed its nose in the deposit for a starters.

355260 2005-05-15 06:04:00 Hi thomas. Gently with the training. We had a dog once that started to crap on a balcony. We rubbed its nose in it and flung it down the stairs. After a while it would crap, walk to the top of the stairs and throw itself down the stairs. Good luck. Scouse (83)
