| 355049 | 2005-05-14 09:29:00 | This friend's pc is connected to Slingshot (dial-up) and it is extremely sloooow this afternoon. It's takes about 5 minutes just to load www.hotmail.com. It happens to all other sites - both national and International sites. He has scanned with AVG and Adaware but found nothing nasty. Also, checked with the Task Manager and found nothing is running behind. Any explanation to this slow Internet connection? Cheers |

| 355050 | 2005-05-14 09:36:00 | Did he contact the ISP to see if they had probs? Or read the MOTD on Slingshot's site, to see if there were any probs? ISP's DO have probs sometimes. |

No . he did not contacted Slingshot but he did try to go to their website but it takes ages just to load slingshot's website . Maybe I should ask him to ring slingshot's helpdesk . But most likely, ISPs don't always tell us the truth, they are used to kicking the ball around . |

| 355053 | 2005-05-14 09:59:00 | It's still worth a try. A few years ago I had a "slow-down" and as I'd just started on the net went through a very interesting and productive period learning all the tricks to get things moving faster, and over a month or so made slight gains, nothing dramatic, but still burrowed away at it for another month and then got an email from the ISP saying sorry things have been so slow for the last couple of months we've fixed it now. LOL. | mark c (247) | ||

It's slow because he's on Slingshot. Low end, low budget, low quality of service. Add those misleading advertisements and that annoying blonde woman and moving ISP's is probably a good option. |

| 355057 | 2005-05-14 14:15:00 | Similar problems with KOL today. After they installed some new servers a couple of weeks ago, everything has been going brillantly. Then today, nothing. Spent about an hour trying to find the problem with my modem. It finally connected and I went to KOLs homepage. They had posted a notice apologizing for any inconvienience they are causing as they switch network providers. Bloody annoying spending that much time trying to fix something thats not broken. Connects ok now but will only load pages from NZ. International sites wont load. So I cant do my usual weekend updating and cleaning. No AVG update. No Adaware update etc etc. I presume they are using the weekend to switch their provider. Hopefully all goes well later in the weekend. |
