| 354774 | 2005-05-13 10:41:00 | I like to use the customise feature to change a folders properties to say Music Album etc so I can use the left hand pane and choose appropriate actions. However I repeatedly change all my music folders to "Music Album (best for tracks for one album)" and my picture folders to "Picture (best for many files)" but this setting seems to change back to something else over time (not immediately). It's almost as if some process is changing them for me in the background to an illogical "better" option. Any clues? | adrian_jurke (8105) | ||

You will need to remove two keys from the registry, so first make a folder somewhere safe to save those keys incase you wish to undo this change at a later date. Make sure you only make the changes given below and don't touch any other key/setting. Go Start > Run. Enter in regedit. Navigate to this location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell NoRoam\BagMRU Right click on that key and select Export and save it to the folder you created earlier. Now delete that key. Next find this key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell NoRoam\Bags Again export it and then delete this key. Once this is done you need to reboot the machine. From now on Windows should remember your customised folder views. I learnt this tip from a previous PF1 member Babe Ruth. :) |
