| 354863 | 2005-05-14 06:35:00 | Ahhhhhhh..... I see....... It's not meant to be a console per se. It is meant to be a home entertainment appliance, communications device and PC rolled into one. Better spec'd than the MacMini (Xbox has 3 x 3.2GHz cpus?) - I am sure Microsoft will very quickly roll out an OS/apps/peripherals that will magically turn the thing into your next PC. Guess they learnt something from Apple after all. But, doesn't this mean that MS is competing against it's own customers - the hardware makers? We'll see how that one pans out. Maybe we have been underestimating MS for too long now. Maybe Longhorn was redesigned for the XBox... If you read properly it hasn't got three cpu's, but what is interesting is that they are using powerpc chips, the same as what apple use, but with a higher clock speed, which must be frustrating apple alot |

Who now will bother building a one-act machine, when MS will bring out the all-singing and all-dancing XBox? Too bad it won't fit in you pocket so you can carry it around with you... Just watch out for the malware though... |

| 354868 | 2005-05-15 03:09:00 | MS won't be "competing" with hardware manufacturers. Real manufacturers can't compete with a crowd who sell their boxes for much less than they cost to build. Was it $200 million the X-Box department of MS lost in the last quarter? The markup on the games is immense, so they are losing huge amounts on the hardware. |
