My solution for the future is to make a custom import for the SQL and access via the file system for large scripts. What other tools do you know? |

| 355037 | 2005-05-14 10:41:00 | Have you looked into automating code? I have had a good look at code generation stuff (or some nice classes) but haven't found anything that I liked the look of yet. I assume you are talking about PHP code to handle your basic CRUD database functions with forms. One of things I didn't like about most of them is I can't easily use a templating system such as Smarty with them. There is no system like PhpMyadmin (or PhpPgadmin for postgresql) that I like that can be customised for the average user to use. PEAR at least makes some thing less painful to implement. Maybe something like Plone is the way to go (although not useful in all cases). MySQL and PHP are getting there.. |

PHP Accelerator claims to be able to boost translation/Loads speed by 5-10x over smart, perhaps more applicable to high end. Yeah i did Mean CRUD, but CRUD is only part of it i suppose. Ideally full searching would be possible. It would also be nice if you could turn cols on/off or change from vertical/horizontal display. Right now i just want to get my PHP Codegen to a similar spec as my ASP one. Been researching whats available most of the night, looking for ideas and so forth. It's not so much a technical issue and i should be able to do the ID references to another table easiysh as well as generate resolving tables without too much work. Kind of like seeing whats out there more with PHP... it has some nicities but for codegens compared to say JSP it may be behind, but then it doesn't typically deal with 70% of 1mil+ projects |
