355515 2005-05-15 22:10:00 Hi

I am wondering whether I have a ghost in my machine and if si what I can do to combat it ?

This morning I have checked my slingshot email account and found that I have 13 new email messages arrive telling me that my emails I sent have been bounced. Each bouce message contacined about 3 or 4 email addess so that's over 40 email messages bounced. Ehich would be fine except I didn't send any of them !!!!

Can anybody advise me of a good exorcist to rid me of this unwanted resident in my machine ?? (or at least let me know what is going on)

Cheers

355516 2005-05-15 22:15:00 Most likely you have an email virus. Get (or update) an antivirus (AVG free is a good free one). Or you can go to TrendMicro online (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/) to do an online scan Myth (110)
355517 2005-05-15 22:41:00 hi mythix

i figured that may be the case but i have nod32 installed along with the zonealarm firewall, and neither seem to have picked up on anything. However, I shall perform the full scan later today and see what we come up with.

cheers

355518 2005-05-15 23:46:00 Could also be someone else with a virus sending out mail as you, not much you can do about it, just wait until their machine gets cleaned. Rob99 (151)
355519 2005-05-16 00:43:00 Further to Rob99 comment you could instal MailWasher and delete the mail before it is downloaded, you could also have a grizzle at Slingshot, won't get anywhere but it will make you feel better. Have had similar problem and all you can do is ride it out. FrankS (257)
355520 2005-05-16 01:00:00 In Slingshot Mail, click on the Spam & Virus button at the top.
For each email account, check the Spam Filtering & Spam Sensitivity settings.

I set Spam Filtering to On - Deliver to Spam Folder & set the Spam Purging to 1

Then click on Save.
