355455 2005-05-15 20:42:00 Hi guys, I was just reading somewhere that you have to be careful using silver heatsink grease because it conducts electricity...

I was like uh-oh thats wat I got on my processor....

Is it going to do any damage. (Athlon XP2600)

Also whenever I boot my computer with the USB key in it says DISK BOOT FAILURE and I rust remove it and hit CTRL-ALT-DEL to restat it.

The boot device is a 40GB SATA, with 40GB and 120GB IDE's... and there is no USB entry in the BIOS boot order.

355457 2005-05-15 22:47:00 the silver thermal paste is ok provided you don't put to much on (which is a classic newbie mistake). tweak'e (69)
355458 2005-05-16 01:04:00 I've never seen it fry one of my cpu's before but its true that you only need the smallest amount nesscary.

about the size of a raindrop or two ought to be enough.

355460 2005-05-16 01:12:00 for an amd I'd use about the size of a plastic pinhead (the little ball shaped coloured ones) NOT a thumbtack head .......a PIN head......for an P4 say about four drops that size cause of the much larger contact area...... drcspy (146)
