| 355654 | 2005-05-16 08:14:00 | Hi, i'm having trouble removing the heatsink from a computer. I managed to remove the heatsink fan easily but the heatsink is held in place by a solid metal bar that won't budge at all. I can't even move it much at the plastic retaining clips on either side, where the metal holds the heatsink on the motherboard. The cpu currently is a 733mhz celeron and the motherboard is an asus cusi-m. I'm currently applying so much force that the motherboard is starting to bend but it still doesn't budge. Even suggestions? Thanks in advance :@@: :badpc: | scratta (7982) | ||

If it's like the one in here (www.intel.com), look at the right hand image, see the sprung metal clip with the little slot above the platic lug/retainer, use a flat bladed screwdriver in that slot, lever out as you push down to enable the clip to come free from the lug. If necessary, take the board out of the case and put it on some firm foam. | Murray P (44) | ||
