355532 2005-05-16 02:25:00 Hi,

Can a computer running the original counter strike mod for HL join a LAN game being hosted by a computer running Counter Strike: Source?

Cheers

Nope. Different server software. Different game.

355536 2005-05-24 02:54:00 Thanks for that. I guess my next question is...

If I install the original Counter Strike (either mod for original HL, or retail pack), can (or do I have to) install steam, and would that update the graphics engine in any way?

Cheers

355537 2005-05-24 05:19:00 You can play CS 1.5 on a lan without steam but to play over the internet you need 1.6 and steam. This won't improve the graphics. ad_267 (6193)
355538 2005-05-24 05:22:00 If you are thinking about buying CS 1 watch out because I recently bought CS 1 and then couldn't play over the internet because Steam said my CD key had allready been registered. It took me a while to convince the store that the game I bought off them was useless but I finally got a refund. ad_267 (6193)
