1385603 2014-10-03 23:26:00 Can I download an (Android) app on my Windows PC and then copy it to an Android Tablet for installing?

Please note: I am NOT talking about installing it on my Windows PC!

1385604 2014-10-04 00:24:00 yes just download the APK file nmercer (3899)
1385605 2014-10-04 12:36:00 Provided your phone is allowed to install apps from "Unknown Sources", that's fine. In fact, a lot of people use it for upgrading to the latest versions of official Google apps even. Because the cryptographic signatures match, you can be sure the app is official and hasn't been tampered with, such as here:

1385606 2014-11-02 09:06:00 Thanks nmercer.

I'm not sure where I download the APK file from.

Can I just surf on my Windows computer to play.google.com find the app I want and click install and it will download the APK file? Which I can then transfer to my Tablet.

1385607 2014-11-02 10:02:00 Nope. It won't download the APK to your Desktop.
It'll automatically install it to the device of your choosing after you hit the "Install" (Or the next time the device has an internet connection). It shows your recently used devices, so you could pick and choose between your cellphone vs tablet for example :)

App developers that support APK installs will generally offer it for download from their website (rather than from the Play store). If not, you would need to get someone to install it on their device from the Play store and extract the APK, or use one of the various online tools people have made to download APKs from the Play store (though I can't vouch for the trustworthiness of any specific tool for this).

1385610 2014-11-02 22:49:00 use one of the various online tools people have made to download APKs from the Play store (though I can't vouch for the trustworthiness of any specific tool for this). This one will do it,you may have to dodge a couple of pop-ups if you click the wrong buttons or the first time you download something ( right click in the box to paste), but just close them :) apps.evozi.com Open that page, then on another tab open the app page you want on google play - copy the URL in the address Bar, paste it into the box on the first page, click generate link - then voilà, Click on the green Download, and down it comes :)

Heres a Android App / APK for Soundcloud:
