2014-09-30 03:28:00 | Some months ago I upgraded from Office 2007 Professional to Office 2013 professional. My Outlook Email Rules used to work satisfactorily most of the time. Not so in Outlook 2013. So many ,for which I create and recreate Rules, still end up in the IN Folder rather than the designated Folder. I read Outlook 2013 for Dummies where the Author states "Don't use Create Rule" "Use Manage Rules". I tested that scenario but no change in success rate.. I have deleted some non working Rules and Recreated them . Makes no difference. Highly frustrating. Most of the original Rules from 2007 still work as intended. Any ideas please? Neil

2014-09-30 08:25:00 | Hi wainuitech. I was creating a rule by taking an existing email. One other "Book Expert" made no mention of "Manage Rules" -just Create a Rule. One other book even suggested "Quick Steps" but that seemed little different from dragging the incoming email to the desired folder. cheers Neil

2014-09-30 08:37:00 | May have found your answer :) Created some new rules after reading your post, (Create new rule) and all of a sudden they didn't work -- BUT found a fix - When you get mails in that you have created rules for, if they don't move, right click on a mail concerned, and there should be a message / option as shown in the picture below. This was from a giveaway site, shareware on sale. This option "may" be new ??? as all the other rules I have work fine. Once selected it works, and mails auto moved. ( "HAD" to download a free program from the site to confirm- what a bugger ) :D 5943

2014-10-02 08:42:00 | Thanks wainuitech , I appreciate your efforts. I have never really looked at that line in Rules before. "Always move messages from " " and select the relevant folder. I have tried it tonight and now await future emails from the sources selected to see if successful. cheers Neil cheers Neil Presumably Microsoft had a reason for altering Rules methodology but I cannot perceive why they would bother- "change for change's sake?"

2014-10-04 05:35:00 | Hi wainuitech I think your fix is the answer as most of the ones I adjusted per that technique seemed to have worked. There "appears " to be one exception but as I "coded" a few to that same folder maybe I thought I had adjusted that email source but in fact did not. I have done so tonight and will watch it carefully. cheers Neil

2014-10-06 07:58:00 | Hi wainuitech My "exception" was not an oversight by me (blast) . The item still insists on going to Inbox rather than the specified Folder showing in Rules. It happens to be NZ Lawyer Magazine daily updates so since he law is confusing maybe I should not be surprised. cheers .
