| 1371877 | 2014-04-03 03:50:00 | Had a stone-chipped on the windscreen this morning, rang my Insurance Co and they arranged the repairer (in this case, it's S&S). A guy rang me this early this afternoon but I could hardly understand what he was talking about, murmuring with an extremely strong foreign ascent. I guess he was trying to fix a time to come and fix the wind-screen. Goodness me, how and why a company would engage a person who couldn't speak proper English for a job of this nature. If he cannot communicate with the customer, how can he perform his job? I am not trying to criticize immigrants (as I am an immigrant myself), if he/she cannot communicate (in English) with the customer, he/she shouldn't be in this country. I am not comfortable to hand my car over to this person for repair if he cannot communicate with me properly. What is happening with our Immigration policy? Isn't some basic command of the English language required before the application is approved? |

Don't worry, he won't be,. Smith & SMith have a call centre. They take calls, also make appointments with people - like this guy was trying to, they don't do the repairs. I agree, while Webdrive have plenty of english as a second language staff, they were picky about how well they spoke it. It was part of the KPIs too. And the written english too - although I have to say the managers written english was sometimes a bit off, but then being the boss, I guess that didn't matter. :-) |

| 1371881 | 2014-04-03 20:44:00 | Had a stone-chipped on the windscreen this morning, Try & get a replacement, not just a repair I had car windscreen repaired some time back, where they inject that resin into it. The repair didnt last, & eventually turned into a long crack that failed WOF What with migrants BUYING their way into NZ, basic English language skills arnt seen as a priority any longer. Cash & bribes(yes) are what matters . Having a call centre, where the guy on the ph cant be understood, hardly good for business, is it? New customers would just give up & ring someone else. Perhaps he was the new S&S owner ? |
