So, is the civilized 'western' world any better ? |

Yes, if for no reason than the 'western' world is becoming less intolerant (I won't yet say more tolerant, just less intolerant) of these things, while others, such as a topic's target, are getting worse. |

If you stick around for another 500 years or so you may find that the human race is getting a little more civilized than it is now however I suspect we will not have changed all that much. |

| 1371785 | 2014-04-03 21:12:00 | It took a few thousand years for the western world to ACTUALLY become civilized/tolerant . That only really happened in the past 30-ish years . Why do we now expect other developing countries to become as tolerant, instantly & on our terms ? who are we to even dictate what should be right & wrong, what is acceptable & what is not ? why do we try & force our western political system on other countries, & punish them if they reject it & put in a system that better suits them & actually gives some stability . Just because its our way of thinking, doesnt make it right everywhere . Im sure some of these countries will look at the state 'Western' countries: crime,welfare dependance, rampant dishonesty, rampant drug abuse (booze) & think we are the uncivilized ones |
