| 1371740 | 2014-04-01 18:51:00 | Husbands car had a sudden leak. We took it down to a local mechanic - with good feedback - to check the oil leak husband couldn't find. He said it wasn't, it was power steering fluid seeping from seals. $600 to pull rack out and replace. Husband spent the weekend cleaning it and messing about and said he couldn't see any leak from steering anywhere....and it hadn't used any power steering fluid. So we got another mechanic to check. A mobile mechanic. So this guy turned up, messed about, pulled some bits off and said it appeared to be the crank seal. Just before we bought the car, it had had a cambelt, water pump and crank seal done. Hmmm... So he told Husband to clean it again, around the area specifically and go down the motorway. We went to an appointment I had, then the guy came back. Yep, sure enough - crank seal. In fact the crank seal had not been replaced. He replaced 2, and Husband tested again. All better. So...2 mechanics that lied huh. Husband commented how precise this guy was, showing him everything, every step of the job. I pointed out that may have been because we hung about telling him mechanic stories about all the rip offs, lies, and mis-diagnoses we had come across.... We also had a discussion about websites, online ads and feedback too. I mentioned I always do feedback, not always good. Probably made him a bit paranoid. |
