When I was at F&P they had these old PCs they imported and couldn't get rid of, so they became staff machines.
They were heaps of ****. One died, I tell my boss the ide ports had gone on the motherboard so we needed to replace the board.

He said, no I should just plug the HDD into the sound card. Well, no, they weren't that old, and any any case we're talking HDD not CD.

(You techs will get that....)

Novopay? Throw enough money at it and it will get done eventually?

WHY?

1371556 2014-03-30 02:53:00 WHY?

Because, I believe, zqwerty is under the delusion that you can only trust the 'working class'.

Corporates, by dint of their not being run by blue-collared, low-educated luddites, are intrinsically evil - and if one is evil, they are all tarred by the same brush.

I think he forgets that corporates (despite the implication of their name) are not actually people. They are made up of people from all walks of life, having a variety of ulterior motives and various moral backgrounds - and are run accordingly...

1371559 2014-03-31 10:33:00 I'm going to ignore johcar's 'troll-baiting' and post this link as a rebuttal of his obvious belief in the infallibility of the "sausage-machine" and the 'infallible' intellects it produces and 'truths' it holds to.

"you have to make sure if the majority is saying something that they’re not talking nonsense" note he is talking about climate change, I strongly disagree with his views on this subject but not why he is doing it.

Freeman Dyson is one of my heroes from younger days, I like his book - "Disturbing the Universe"
