1385438 2014-10-09 03:36:00 How can you survive with 10gb a month?? :waughh:

Some people don't do a heck of a lot with their connection, maybe check email and a few sites and nothing else.

Yep, 10GB wouldn't be any use here, its not that uncommon to go through that in a day, or when doing a lot of updates / program downloads in an hour or so :) wainuitech (129)
1385440 2014-10-09 07:03:00 How can you survive with 10gb a month?? :waughh:Easy... I'm not a New Zealand Internet bandwidth sucking pig.

I use the Internet anywhere from 4 - 12 hours per day for work, entertainment, downloading stuff like software, occasional movie or viewing TV On Demand, updates, and the usual sending, receiving and downloading files and images.

My average usage is around 4 gigs each month, with once hitting just over 7 gigs when I spent a lot of time gaming online.

It's people like me who pay for abusers of ISP's unlimited bandwidth, and I wholeheartedly support the call for extra high prices for those users and abusers who clog and constrict everyday users from having decent speeds.

The question of course begs to be asked... how much porn and copyrighted software and movies do some people need?

How about absolutely NONE.

Heres an example, the other day.

Downloaded updates for a W8 to 8.1 -- 1.3GB
W8.1 update --- 3.6GB
Further updates after that, ---Just over 1GB

Same day downloaded W10, 3.8GB
Server Preview 4.3GB

So even without the W10 Previews, thats just under 6GB in less than 2 hours, and thats not including anything else.

SO still Illegal downloads ?

I second this. Did over 18GB the other day just updating a bunch of laptops etc. Nothing illegal there.

Ah...no you dont. You'll be on a much cheaper plan than the unlimited .
And dont blame the very few abusers of unlimited a/c's for an ISP's poor 'speed' performance. Chances are the speed would be bad regardless .

1385445 2014-10-09 23:39:00 If an ISP sells an unlimited package but can't support the bandwidth required when people want to use it, that's the ISP's fault, not the 'heavy user'.

If they can't manage traffic so that the people with caps get traffic priority over people on unlimited connections who may be running bittorrent 24/7, that's the ISP's fault, not the 'heavy user'.

BUT, if you continue to pay for service from an ISP that can't meet those conditions and therefore sucks, that's probably your own damn fault. But I do feel sorry for you if you have no other choice.

4gb a month?! That's sick! An hour of NetFlix is like 3.6gb!

Telecom's Unlimited plan is traffic shaped, I believe this is true for every ISP or at least they have provisions for traffic shaping.
Why do you think Telecom's 500gb plan is more expensive than the unlimited?

As far as clogging and constrictions are concerned, that's a load of crap.
People have crappy plans, crappy wiring, crappy modems or crappy cabinets to blame for slow internet, not other users.
