1385454 2014-10-01 18:19:00 Hi we can finally get decent internet speed ive been told there is not much difference between adsl and vdsl

Is there a big speed difference? is it worth paying the extra $10 a month for ?

Appreciate your opinion

cheers
Peter

1385455 2014-10-01 18:50:00 So long as you are not to far from the box VDSL is far far better than ADSL. There is no way I would go back and it is well worth the extra $10 to me anyway. CliveM (6007)
1385456 2014-10-01 18:52:00 VDSL has approx 1.5 - 2 times the download and 10 times the upload speed of ADSL, depends on how you use the net how much difference that makes.
If you are a heavy user or would like the upload speed it's worth it, for casual net surfing or watching youtube you won't see a difference. Games also seem to benefit from more upstream bandwidth and it's particularly good in multi-user households.

I got VDSL as an interim solution while I wait for fibre to reach my street and have been happy with it's performance @ 24/10 Mbps

1385457 2014-10-01 21:37:00 Absolutely huge difference in my opinion! VDSL2 is leaps and bounds ahead, as dugimodo mentioned the upload specifically makes a massive difference.

If it's just one 'light' user, then sure, but if there's a couple of people at your place then it's well worth the upgrade I'd say!

1385458 2014-10-02 05:36:00 big thing is distance from exchange, something stupid to like 900m ! and even then speeds drop down rapidly. tweak'e (69)
1385459 2014-10-02 10:05:00 I'm very happy with my VDSL2 connection over the old ADSL2+

Upload speed especially is much improved!
