356231 2005-05-18 06:09:00 Hey,

I just bought Icewind dale 2 on Trademe. I have just installed it but I can't get it to work properly. I can get to the menu screen and select characters etc but when I try to start the game it just freezes on the loading screen. I have downloaded the latest patch, 2.01 but it hasn't made a difference. Unfortunately it appears the developers have gone under! Anyone have any suggestions, I can give you a list of my specs if that helps.

Help anyone?

356232 2005-05-18 06:30:00 Yes, specifications of your hardware, OS version and driver version numbers for your video card plus DirectX could be helpful. :) Jen (38)
356233 2005-05-19 22:50:00 OK I have a abit siluro ti4200 graphics card 128mb
AMD 2600 Athlon processor
Asus motherboard
audigy 2 sound card
80g seagate barracuda 7200rpm hd
samsung 16x dvd-rw
And I am pretty sure I am using the latest directx version, 9.0b?

I was wondering if reverting to a previous version of directx might make a difference? I would have thought that directx was backward compatable though. Hope that is useful I am trying to remember my specs from memory.

Cheers

356234 2005-05-19 22:54:00 The latest version of Direct X is 9.0c. Also what OS are you running ? Overdrive_5000 (4950)
356235 2005-05-20 06:26:00 I'm taking it you have WinXP on the machine with those specs. What driver version does your nVidia graphic card use? Go Start > Run and enter in dxdiag. You should find the version number listed in that program. Or you can go into Display Properties > Settings > Advanced and look for your driver version.

I did read somewhere that using an older nVidia driver resolved this problem for someone (not sure how old though).

356237 2005-05-22 05:36:00 Hey thanks everyone for your help. I rolled back the driver on video card and the game runs fine now.

Cheers
