356105 2005-05-18 01:02:00 Here are my specs:

OS: Windows XP Professional x64
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Winchester Socket 939
Motherboard: ASUS A8V DELUXE Socket 939 VIA K8T800 Pro
RAM: 512MB DDR pc2700
Video: PowerColor ATI RADEON 9600PRO 128MB

I know this may be a lot to read, but damn it I need help.

When I had this video card on my old 32-bit machine I could not install the latest drivers from the ATI website without getting errors, so I always had to use the drivers on the cd that came with the product's box.

But now I just got a 64bit machine, so I can no longer use the 32bit drivers on the CD. So, I went to the ATI website (www.ati.com) , and downloaded and installed their latest driver that would fit my specs, "CATALYST 5.5 Windows XP Professional x64 Edition". I was able to install with no errors, but then when I rebooted my system there was MAJOR display distortion/corruption/artifact all over my screen. I couldn't see or read a damn thing, so I had to restart into safe mode in order to uninstall the driver.

Now I'm just using window's default driver, which is super slow.
After googling around I discovered people who have had minor display corruption saying swapping their power supply with a stronger one fixed the problem. So I swapped my 350watt power supply with a 450watt, but there's no difference at all.

Maybe if PowerColor had their own 64-bit drivers it would work fine, because it seems that I can never use the drivers from ATI's website. Do you think its the video card thats the problem? I might be able to send it back for warranty, but I only have everything but the reciept :(

Please, any suggestions?

356106 2005-05-18 03:01:00 You could try using a utility such as driver cleaner 3 to remove all traces of the drivers then try and reinstall them and see how you get on Overdrive_5000 (4950)
356107 2005-05-18 03:10:00 First your system is nice except for the card. Its getting old.
Second it should run the ATI drivers without a problem so I'd send it back or throw it away or whatever.
Third, XP64? Well thats what happens when you become the beta tester.
