Alrighty,Nforce4 is the motherboard, If your AMD its the chipset to get, But the fact that it uses current generation technology means your 9800pro won't fit, AGP cards are no longer current, Video cards now use PCI_E,the 6600GT is faster in most applications by a large margin, cheaper and available as either AGP or PCI_E.

AMD VS Intel?

Spanked.

As you can see (if you clicked the above link) an AMD 64 3200 outperforms an Intel 3.6 P4 Extreme edition, These EE cpu's are about 8 times the price of the AMD cpu that spanks them.

356093 2005-05-18 01:17:00 Well, I bought that bare AMD for $370.

I guess I won't be buying the R 9800 pro, which video card should I buy then?

Could someone give me a list of the best hardware that I will need to build that PC?

Thanks for everyones help thus far.

356095 2005-05-18 01:32:00 So the 6600 is the way to go. I should buy the PCI not the AGP version right?

Also, do you have any input on which RAM, and drive to buy?

As far as the OS goes, do I just buy windows XP home and run the disk to set it up on that system?

356096 2005-05-18 01:44:00 America is to big and far away for me to be giving advice on what brands are best value....What holds in NZ may not apply over that way...

Anyhow, Due to the motherboard you bought you will need to purchase a PCI-Express video card.

356097 2005-05-18 01:49:00 I don't mean by value, I just mean which brands are the best. I want to get as much top of the line stuff as I can. The drive isn't very important though, as I don't plan on burning anything with this computer, I just need one that functions.

It's the RAM I'm confused about, someone told me to get two 512 sticks, I hear others saying get a 1 gig. Which is the best fit for my setup?

Leadtek, ASUS, HIS, Gigabyte.

2 sticks of rma if your MB supports dual channel. Not that it matters much.
Go with what Metlas telling you - he's the only one talking sense.
