| 356977 | 2005-05-20 10:47:00 | can you please explain a little bit more on whats happening. are you booting into safe mode or dose the screen just look like safe mode? if you let the pc boot normaly it just stops with a black screen ?? if you are booting into safe mode check what you have running in startup (start/run/msconfig). disable anything werid, post list here if in doubt. |

| 356978 | 2005-05-20 11:25:00 | Is it possible that you have your display properties set to a resolution/refresh rate that your monitor can't handle? In safe mode it defaults to a "safe" resolution. When you are in safe mode change your display properties (right-click desktop, click properties -> settings) to a resolution like 800 x 600 and the colour to 256 colours. Save and reboot into normal mode. If that works - Bingo! You can fiddle with the properties to find the max your system can handle. If it doesn't work, I'm all out of ideas. It may not be that at all, but I have certainly seen situations where someone has been playing around and this has been the result. HTH |
