356686 2005-05-19 11:04:00 At times when I switch my PC on, I get a message saying "New Hardware Found" although I have no new hardware on the PC. I have tried installing all drivers etc. but has not worked yet.

Is there any solution to this problem? It is getting a bit annoying having this mesaage every now and then.

regards

A couple of questions. What operating system do you use, and what is the hardware that is being found on booting eg, Printer.

356688 2005-05-19 11:47:00 Thanks.

I have windows XP.

I believe it is "multimedia controller".

356689 2005-05-19 12:22:00 Hi Django,
If you right click "My Computer" then click properties, then select the Hardware tab, then Device Manager, have you got a device that is presumably called "multimedia controller" with a yellow question mark or red exclamation mark on the left of it.
If so, thats the new hardware causing the problems.
You should be able to fix it from there.
Cheers.

356690 2005-05-19 19:59:00 Thanks .

I have done this several times, but of no use .

I have even upgraded the drivers several times .

What does "Multimedia controller" mean? Excuse my ignorance because I am not a computer expert .

356691 2005-05-19 21:24:00 Multimedia can be a few things.
I take it you already have your Graphics card and sound card drivers installed happily?? If not, I'd guess its sound.
If they are, then it could be something like a TV Tuner or similar that it wants to set up.
What cards are in your PC?
On my PC when I chnaged graphics cards I had the same thing, even though I had installed my driver but it turned out that it wanted to install various codecs off the install CD.
Or it could be wanting to install a WDM driver as well.

356692 2005-05-19 22:06:00 Thanks. What are various codecs off the install CD and WDM driver.

I belive it is the TV Tuner card (leadteak) giving problems and I have dowloaded and upgraded all the drivers.

356693 2005-05-20 01:56:00 What codecs mine wanted I have no idea - I just inserted the CD and XP immediately happily loaded stuff off it, mentioning codecs. I didn't pay a lot of attention to exactly which ones. I just let it do it.

WDM = : "Windows driver model (WDM) is a strategy for making driver development simpler. The ultimate goal of WDM is a more robust platform for Microsoft® Windows® operating systems and better user experiences with new hardware for Windows-based PCs. WDM provides a common set of services for developers to create drivers that are compatible across Windows operating systems for certain device classes. A WDM driver can be source-code-compatible for Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Millennium Edition (Windows Me), and Windows 98."

I had just used ATIs driver off the website, obviously it wanted more.

If you think its the TV Tuner - go back on Leadteks site and download everything for your card, it may be like my card was and want all the extras too.
