356650 2005-05-19 10:39:00 I have a second CRT monitor sitting here. My video card (ATI Radeon 9800 Pro) has a DVI-I Dual output (to go with the VGA output my primary monitor is on). The catch is the only converter I can find is DVI-A to VGA.

Can I just bung that on and it will work, or do I need to find a DVI-I converter and use that?

If I need a DVI-I Dual converter, where can I find one from? (Dunedin)

356651 2005-05-19 18:01:00 So I take it you have two VGA mointors. I am sure (as I have the exact same 9800 card) that they can handle two mointors. You can pick up a DVI to VGA cable from Dick Smith's for around $18 I think. So quality is lost, as DVI does not offer ANY improvments in picture quality. Slap that in the back of your card, plug into mointor and she should be sweet :D ProMaz (34)
356652 2005-05-19 22:09:00 The short answer is that DVI-I female plugs are compatible with both DVI-A (Analog) and DVI-D (Digital) connections, and a dual female is also compatible with a single male.

However, DVI-D and DVI-A are pretty much incompatible, and I'm not sure how well a DVI-I input system deals with -D/-A differences.

(-I and -D have single and dual variants, -A is single only)

(oh, yeah, I don't know what -I is either, unless it's Integrated or something doofy like that)
