357623 2005-05-23 01:54:00 What games are you trying to play. The FX5200 isn't exactly a gaming beast by any stretch of the imagination. As far as I am aware it's not able to render DX9 textures although this shouldn't be a problem as it will just ignnore the DX 9 instructions. Please post a bit more detail on your system... RAM, HDD, SP's etc and as I said, what games are you trying to play.

Let me re-iterate... while the FX5200 can play most games, it is a bit like trying to polishing a TURD when it comes to the more recent releases.

More help may be available after you have given us more information.

Personally I wouldn't get my hopes up... but I may be proven wrong.

cheers

357625 2005-05-23 03:43:00 FX5200 is a DX9 card, Just not a very powerful one.

Anyhow...

Start>run>Dxdiag, click the display tab and run whatever tests are available,Its bound to spit the dummy based on what you have written above.

The three posibilities are.

1. Corrupt drivers
2. Corupt Directx
3. Card is due to go swimming with the fishes

Download the latest drivers from the Nvidia site, download dx9.0c from MS.Download an App called Driver cleaner (google will find it for You)

Run driver cleaner
Install Directx (it overwrites the current install)
Install nVidia drivers.

Let it reboot the system everytime it asks.

357626 2005-05-23 04:56:00 I'd upgrade the card. My son had one and it was a dog. pctek (84)
