| 357562 | 2005-05-22 22:12:00 | Hello, I have Windows XP with SP2 installed 40Gb hard drive, 512 ram, on my computer. When I shut down the computer it takes about 5 minutes to do so. Can anyone suggest why this is so and what I can do to speed up the process ? Thanks. Peterver | peterver (3888) | ||

You could try a program called RegScrubXP it has a button called misc when you click that it will have a list of tweaks one of them will be fast shutdown you can download it here (www.majorgeeks.com) HTH |

| 357565 | 2005-05-23 04:39:00 | I am having trouble with one program Outlook (MS Office 2003). It keeps freezing. However I have done Defrag, spybot, ad-aware, virus scan and nothing turns up. PS My dad peterver put the thread on for me. |

I have scandisked, defragged, adawawared, sbybotted, AVGd, Reg First Aided and trojaned to no effect. Tried Overdrive's RegScrub fix, no change but I look forward to the tweaking in the Xp tips. Somebody break my mouse fingers, please. |

| 357568 | 2005-05-23 06:23:00 | Try right clicking and exiting all the programs in your toolbar, then see if it exits faster when you shut down. I find that Zone Alarm is the big culprit in causing slow shut downs. | zqwerty (97) | ||
| 357569 | 2005-05-26 03:53:00 | :) Have fixed mine by turning off automatic updates. Noticed my system properties window was freezing so there could be a conflict with AVG. | steelsporran (6566) | ||
