| 357659 | 2005-05-23 04:15:00 | Hi New PC is on the way so now we can get look at getting some newer games. I've played Age of Empires for years and always enjoyed it. However ... is Rise of Nations better? Is it different enough to make it worth buying? |

| 357664 | 2005-05-23 09:34:00 | RON is brilliant and worth upgrading to but you might first want to try out the pre-cursor 'Age of Kings'. If you do go for RON, make sure you eventually get the Patriots expansion pack. :thumbs: |

| 357666 | 2005-05-25 09:36:00 | Gidday - as another "old fullah" who has played RON, AOE2 and AOE1, I'd have to say that there are different aspects to the games. With RON you can win a number of different ways (economically, technologically, military might, most territory, or strategically) but the game is definitely more complex than AOE2. If you want a "hack em and thrash em" then AOE2 meets those criteria nicely but if you want a more thoughtful game RON is definitely the way to play. If you have broadband you might want to download the demo at www.microsoft.com but it is 194MB. I persisted with a download manager, 56K modem and several all night download sessions and it was worth the effort. Enjoy |
