358130 2005-05-30 03:46:00 Its this bloody lappy ..It's probably offended by being referred to as a "lappy" all the time - "laptop" is only one more character... Tony (4941)
358131 2005-05-30 06:04:00 Just re-capping here:
Network settings look fine, so:
You've changed the cable?
You've updated the drivers?

358132 2005-05-30 06:12:00 from everything i've read here, it seems as if your "lappy"'s network card is bung, and i dont think you can replace a laptop network card easily yourself. you might wanna get that checked out. supersaiyanplough (8098)
358133 2005-05-30 06:25:00 That is what I am thinking as well. The port hasn't got dust or bits in it, has it?

Lovelee, have a look through the links on this page (www.google.com) and see if any are of any use.

358135 2005-05-30 11:38:00 ha Foxy .. Ive looked at most of them .. thanks .. Ive been looking all day hehehe

None seem to have an answer .. and oddly enough I have found that this seems to be a common problem but not one person has an answer.

Now something that we have discovered is that when I wiggle the cord I can get the connection to happen .. for a moment only!! This makes us suspicious that there is something wrong where it plugs in .. BUT !!! when I did that speed link thing u suggested yesterday it did connect for a moment also .. and I wasnt wiggling cords.

Thinking of going via the usb now .. can the guest comp access the net using usb ?

358136 2005-05-30 12:56:00 Depends on the USB Cable/connection type....

You can purchase a USB -> LAN Adapter for approx $55 from Qmb (I got mine for that price a year back).

Chill.

358137 2005-05-31 04:36:00 That does look as if the socket is a bit flalkey. Try cutting a piece of paper the right size to fit on the back of the plug (under the latch). That might give a better contact. Graham L (2)
358138 2005-05-31 05:15:00 Have you tried swapping the cable end-for-end? If the same socket shows as unplugged you can suspect the socket, otherwise if the other PC shows as unplugged you have a dodgy cable. Fairly obvious I guess, but you never know... Tony (4941)
