358306 2005-05-25 08:28:00 I have just aquired an old computer (6 years)
It has an AMD K6-2 Processor 500/100 Mhz

I managed to install Win98 but when i restarted it the cpu fan stopped
I turned of the comp and then the Fan worked but next time i restarted it stopped again and now it refuses to go

The fan is AAVID Model 1450232

358312 2005-05-25 09:01:00 That cpu sounds like a socket 7 processor?

If it is, I have a fan here. For a socket 7 CPU.

Do you know what the motherboard name/brand is??

If you can find this out, we'll be able to find out what kind of fan is needed.

Go here and download Everest Home

www.lavalys.com

Get the 2.9 mb exe install file.

358314 2005-05-25 09:21:00 Speedy - What is the fan, so i can get one? Dannz (1668)
358315 2005-05-25 09:30:00 you do not need to download/run any program to tell you what fan you need. unscrew it, go down to dick smith, jaycar, local pc shop ask for a fan the same size. odds are its a 40 or 60 mm fan.

any pc tech will proberly have a few old ones floating about.
