358643 2005-05-27 04:10:00 Mepis Lite for Win98 Users (www.mepis.org). Be aware that this is a testing/beta version of Simply Mepis. However, Mepis itself is stable, so there shouldn't be any significant bugs if any. Murray P (44)
358644 2005-05-28 01:01:00 Thanks for that.
I'm looking at some of them now.
It still doesn't answer the question though : Does downloading from an ftp site still count against my monthly quota or is it 'free' because it uses a different port?

Cheers

This will count towards your monthly quota. Jen (38)
358646 2005-05-28 02:12:00 checked out the site.
followed the links, various versions available from 1.8 to 5.0.
will the newer versions still work on the older machine?

I would suggest 3 which I use on a PII 400MHz with 64MB RAM. The SOHO version is fine. You don't have to run KDE; 4 is probably fine too although I haven't tried it (I have tried 5.0.1 though). :D

358648 2005-05-29 03:16:00 Dick Smith will sell you a set of Mandrake disks for $6 or so. That might be worth a try. Graham L (2)
