2005-05-26 07:55:00 | And so is AGP. But soon it will join the rest of the obsolete Buses. | pctek (84) | |
2005-05-26 11:33:00 | SLI is pretty ****ty wok guys if u use 2 6600gt's linked :stare: visual defectes increase by around 20% (defeating the purpose) :groan: and AGP is still good and cheap PCI-E is still over priced i reckon  | Pok_pok_911 (8191) | |
2005-05-26 14:18:00 | linux is fine... I thort AGP 8x was 2.2GB/s and PCI-E 16x (250mb/s x 16) was 4 GB/s P.S. AGP is not a bus... 57.3° in a radian? who woulda known... (www.google.co.nz)

2005-05-26 22:00:00 | P . S . AGP is not a bus . . . AGP runs at several times the BUS speed of conventional Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) . Because of this, the data transfer rate using AGP is significantly greater than with PCI video cards . AGP employs eight sideband address lines, so multiple data transfers can take place concurrently . So what is it then?

2005-05-26 22:36:00 | Formula 1 or Indy Car?? :p As far as which is better, there are no real major differences, its like AMD vs Intel (pre Pentium2 days) Its just that marketing has been pushing PCI-E as the better one and it looks like PCI-E is 'it' for the next 6 months or so.

2005-05-26 22:51:00 | Hmmm......PCI-E is clearly better then AGP, Its just at this stage completley unneeded, with the cards we currently have falling well short of the bandwidth available with 8xagp and even the schoricng hot midrange cards only barley pushing above the requirments of 4xagp, Its like which is faster, riding a bike down a 2 lane road or down a 12 lane road? There is no difference, Same bike, same speed....

2005-05-26 23:17:00 | as per normal the market goes with what peole want, not with what they need. the slot thats outdated is the pci slot. there really needs to be a lot more pci-e cards eg lan cards and raid cards. they are the few things that require a higher bandwidth bus.

2005-05-27 00:04:00 | [quote]So what is it then?[/qoute] I'm not sure, but technicaly it is not a bus because it does not share itself with other devices.... anyway its a petty thing to have an argument about so I'm going to have some linux on toast.. I mean marmite...
