358694 2005-05-26 07:56:00 I'm currently still using a CRT monitor and would like to upgrade to a LCD monitor. Can anybody please recommend any monitors that is value for money as well as great on performance? I'm looking at getting a 19 inch DVI monitor and have read a couple of reviews on BenQ FP937S+. I don't play much games but do watch lots of movies on the computer. Will this be a good buy? DisConnect (8202)
358695 2005-05-26 08:50:00 It seems to stack up feature and performance wise & I was looking at one of these as well, but can't find anything in all I've read regarding the pixel warranty. bartsdadhomer (80)
358696 2005-05-26 09:52:00 I rate it.

warranty details (www.benq.com.au). I tested with lcdtest (www.ekimsw.com) carefully when I got it so I could return under the 7 day zero defect part of the warranty - no bad pixels seen (so far...)

They even bother to include a DVI cable.

The vertical viewing angle is a bit poor.
There is a bit of a wierd change in shades of colour from top to bottom when showing uniform blue.

Games such as UT2004 seem okay - no ghosting I noticed.
A bit weak at doing non-native resolutions but 1280 by 1024 is quite useable with a 19'' LCD.

I watch movies using TV out so can't comment there.

I still think the colours particulary the reds are a bit odd and you often notice jpeg compression artifacts a lot more than my old CRT.

358697 2005-05-26 11:02:00 I've read several reviews on this Benq model and i haven't read a bad one yet. Tom's Hardware guide has also given a review on this model and he has given it much credit. check out the link below.

i've already ordered mine in and it's due to arrive on wednesday next week... looking forward to it... :) but i'm still open to any criticism about it as i can always cancel the order... It's gonna cost AUD705 for it... is that expensive?

Thanx for all the comments btw...

358698 2005-05-26 18:08:00 Be careful of reviews. Especialy if the same publication also carries advertising for the same product. JJJJJ (528)

yeah i know... but tom's reviews are pretty impartial isn't it? and other reviews i read are of users that have just recently bought this monitor...

thanx for the advice anyhow...

358700 2005-05-27 01:21:00 My Boss, My Collegue and me all bought one at the same time. I play RTS and it performs beautifully.

Be aware when running video/DVD. Set the refresh rate to 72hz as opposed to 75hz and it will work well.

I also use it on the DVI output. Brilliant.

Oh... cool... will take that down... I've been getting a really good response with the reviews on this monitor... from friend's friends, you guys, online reviews, etc... even the computer stores that sell them are always out of stock due to it's popularity... Hopefully i will get mine wednesday... *fingers crossed*
