| 358211 | 2005-05-25 00:25:00 | When I was on dialup I always checked my email manually, i.e. in Outlook I clicked "send/receive" and off it went with no problems. Since I went to ADSL, i.e. "always on", I have changed it check for email every 15 minutes. That appears to work OK. BUT if I click "send/receive" the behaviour now varies. Sometimes it appears to check all three accounts OK, i.e. the "delivering messages" windows shows up and disappears for each account. Other times it varies from apparently doing nothing at all, to checking one or two of the accounts, with the "delivering messages" windows appearing for periods ranging from < 1sec to many seconds. It may be that sometimes everything is happening really fast, but the cynical side of me says "yeah, right". Any ideas? |

| 358213 | 2005-05-25 02:01:00 | I suspect you're right, but what seems a bit odd is that this behaviour never happened when I was always getting mail manually. Then I always got all three windows appearing in sequence for about the same duration, unless there was a huge amount of mail for one of the accounts. Of course then I was on dialup and now I am on 2mbps ADSL, but even if there was no mail for an account there was a noticeable period for each account retrieval - which should eliminate traffic up and down the line. Now the duration for each account can vary markedly, even if once again there is no email retrieved. It is not a big deal at all as I am sure I am not losing any mail. It's just one of those "why is this happening" irritations. :badpc: |
