| 359452 | 2005-05-28 22:00:00 | I have just had an upgrade from Windows 98 se to Windows XP professional, and while it seems better, more stable it has problems of its own. For instance about twice a week it will boot up with the cursor arrow frozen in the middle of the screen. Pressing control all delete brings up a small "end task' screen but there are no tasks to end, it also does not free up the cursor as it would in 98. Is there any solution other than a hard reboot? 90% of the time when I am using Internet Explorer, the window opens very small, and needs to be dragged to the right size. Other windows open fine, including outlook express. What on earth is going on? Can I get my favourites onto the start menu? |

Can I get my favourites onto the start menu?If you right-click on the Start button and select properties, you will find options to specify what you would like displayed under the Menu's (this might be under the Advanced Tab??). What are the specifications of your computer? If you were running Win98 before upgrading, does your computer meet the hardware specifications for XP? |

In so far as I understood it, they saved all my programmes and data, put Windows XP on a new hard drive, and then put my stuff back on. The computer is relatively new certainly a lot newer than Windows XP. I was just happy with 98, but it got more and more eccentric. Thanks everyone, GS | Guerilla Surgeon (6848) | ||
