| 359109 | 2005-05-28 03:12:00 | :( :( My mums work pc fainted first it crashed then we rebooted then we found that all the files were not here when we opened my computer an notice said that the activex thinngy wouldnt run and so we could not see any files i am pretty sure the files are still there just unaccesiable how can i get them back can i hook up another pc to hers via a cable or somthing and use something to recover the files anything although the cheaper the better also i tried changing the ie security settings but that dont work either there is no internet there so it is prob not a virus These files are vital and neeeed to be recovered! You need to go in with a different OS which will not write to the disk. Windows has actually booted, but just says that ActiveX doesn't work? Are the missing files in one particular directory (My Documents?) or all over? Get a DOS floppy and explore. (If you haven't got an emergency boot floppy you can download FreeDos ... which might have a bootable CD image if there isn't a floppy drive). "C:\Windows\Desktop\My Documents" would be a good place to look. There are file recovery utilities around ... some have been listed here. |
