| 358831 | 2005-05-27 05:24:00 | I have "lost" a folder on my Peerless external drive. Doing some house-keeping and tidying up and not deleting I discovered that a folder I was working on has vanished. I have exhausted enquiries with Iomega support who think it may not be recoverable. But I'm prepared to experiment. There's lot of software around....has anyone got any recommendations? And before anyone asks. No, it isn't hiding inside another folder. I've done 2 searches and its not. Tia martynz |

Also search for a file you can see is present on that drive to make sure your search parameters (location etc) are correct. | Jen (38) | ||
| 358833 | 2005-05-27 09:07:00 | Assuming the drive itself is not deteriorating and therefore ready to be thrown away and replaced, I have a few questions for you: You said you all ready checked inside other folders for your missing folder but did you look inside the Recycle Bin? Have you tried START | Run | Explorer and then looked via left pane of Explorer window to see whether the missing folder is present? Finally, a few years a go someone's Windows folder decided to disappear beyond all trace, even though he had his view all files option checked. The solution to his problem was as follows: Click START Select Run Type CMD and click OK At the command prompt type CD C:\WINDOWS then hit Enter key Type attrib -s -h C:\Windows and hit Enter key Close Command window and reboot pc Perhaps if you replace the cd:\windows with CD c:\your missing folder name here along with correct path of course followed by the ATTRIB command next it might work. No harm in trying. Regards, Timothy |

I've done 2 searches, one using Windows Find and a second using CopernicDesktopSearch (which I really recommend btw) neither found any trace. But the latest news is that after some Googling and experimenting I've found some Freeware, PCInspectorFileRecovery, that may do the trick. Its located all the folders ever on the Peerless and its now running to locate all Lost files. If I'm successful I'll report back. Regards Martynz |
