| 358852 | 2005-05-28 01:46:00 | Can you use PHP and SQL to recieve information that visitors put into a form or do you need a CGI-bin and Perl? PHP and using SQL (for database like MySQL) is all you need. Be sure to check out stuff such as pear (pear.php.net) before rolling your own (there are other scripts out there too). |

| 358854 | 2005-05-28 02:46:00 | Defnitly PHP and Mysql . I have started to learn it, I was told that PHP is still in the beginner stages and that it has a great future ahead of it on the net . I found it very difficult to set up and run on win98, so just upload to my website and use one of my spare db's for the mysql . I would recommend that for others, it cuts out so much hassle installing apache, php, mysql etc on your machine and practically its no longer in time to do anyway . I have used HTMLkit to play with the php, from chami . org (?) its free and comes with php and other language plugins . Great little program htmlkit . Also there are HEAPS of resouces on the net for it as well . Start out making a simple DB with php and mysql, that appears to be its fundamental purpose . I might have some resources around if you want me to post a link here as well . |
