359550 2005-05-29 09:59:00 Can somebody give me a comparison between a Radeon 9600SE and a Geforce 3 Ti 200? Which is better and why? Cost is not an issue (as these cards have already been obtained...). Its hard to find reviews on the net that compare the two (I guess because the 9600se is newer than the GF3.

Mike.

See here (techreport.com) for more specs.

The 9600SE is one of those "crippled" cards but will still win with a better core speed and is more modern. Many forums I've read both rate them as "awful"...

359552 2005-05-29 10:26:00 I can't find anything that compares both together but a good place to find out more about each is graphics.tomshardware.com They might have benchmarked both using the same game even if not in the same test. 9600se would be better. ad_267 (6193)
359553 2005-05-29 10:27:00 I did a google searched earlier on before and found this site
www.rojakpot.com

If you scroll down it tells u the bandwith of all the GEforce cards.

If any one out there know a site this for ATi please let me know.I wanna know the comparison between Ati and Geforce cards.

I heard that Ati are better than Geforce. Is this true?

359554 2005-05-29 10:28:00 www.tomshardware.com Keeps some very good comparison charts for video cards. A little searching of the site should bring up reviews and comparisons of the older cards. Capt Jimbo (17)
359555 2005-05-29 13:27:00 For modern uses the 9600SE will be the better card. It supports DX9 functions, which can be useful even if the memory bandwidth isn't enough for most of them.

Also modern games are more optimised for the 9600 core than the ageing GF3 core. Many won't even run on anything that doesn't support DX9 shaders, although the 9600SE probably couldn't run those games at an acceptable frame rate anyway.

The GF3 will kick its ass at older Quake3 era games, but unless you play a lot of those old games the 9600SE is probably the better choice.
