| 359894 | 2005-05-30 15:11:00 | Thanks for all the replies everyone . The last computer I had was a lightning strike victim too, the ethernet port did not work but everything else did . It still had the phone cord plugged into the phone modem even though we switched to cable . The first repair attempt they only replaced the phone modem . I checked everything over real good and there is no visible damage . Now, I do have another question . . . . Everytime I take something in for repairs they format my hard drive and I lose everything, is this necessary? I was thinking about just buying a new one to slip in there so they can repair it and do whatever, then when I get it back reinstall my exising one . Should I bother or just tell them not to format it? (assuming it works properly) |
