360116 2005-06-01 00:59:00 I have installed a new printer (a Canon ir 1570F copier/printer), but now find that I can't print reports generated in NZAGold (yes, an old-timer, I know...). Canon reckon that this machine won't print from DOS-based programs. Can anyone tell me:
a) Is NZAGold a DOS-based program (probably...)?
b) Is there any fix I can apply to allow this machine to print my reports?

360118 2005-06-01 02:19:00 Is the printer connected with a USB cable?

DOS doesn't understand USB . It talks to addressable hardware ports . Some DOS-based programmes have their own printer drivers, and talk to the hardware directly, without going through the "proper" OS hooks .

What OS are you using? If it's one of the DOS based ones (W95, W98, W98SE, WinME), I have heard rumours of non MS programmes whicj allow you to use USB, but I don't no anything about them .

You might be able to "print" to a file (probabl;y you won't be able to use a "nice" printer; just a generic plain text printer) then run that through a modern programme which will talk to the printer . Try a file; if you can read the file in Notepad it will be OK) .

360119 2008-05-21 04:30:00 NZA Gold is made in Visual Foxpro but prints through Windows. Has always been a problem.

But is there anyone out there that can give me a code so I can add another POS terminal?
I just can't afford new Software.

Thanks

360121 2008-05-23 06:27:00 I use an old DOS program "Professional File". Worked fine on XP until I installed a dual processor. I now run it inside "Dos Box" which works very well. So far as the printer is concerned, it only supports dot-matrix & Daisy Wheel printers on LPT1.

I get round this by printing it to a text file, then load it into a word processor in Windows and print it to any printer.

360122 2008-05-23 11:12:00 You could try sharing the printer and using dos to sapture the printer to the local LTP port

Bring up a dos box
net use ltp1 \\computername\shared printername and just print to the local ltp in NZ gold
