| 360051 | 2005-05-31 10:14:00 | :help: hey guys i was just wondering if you could please help me, all the time when i go to uninstall my programs they say "could not open INSTALL.LOG file" these are programs like call of duty demo and abot another 30 programs which are impossible to get rid of and im not realy wanting to go and delete from program files Any help much aprecciated! | 360053 | 2005-05-31 16:02:00 | Well hey,you're talking about THE uninstaller in +- programs?Dont use it myself cos it won't - !Prefer others like the great Ashampoo Uninstaller Suite because it logs all the alterations to the system/files/reg with a snapshot on installation&uninstalls properly. Even My Uninstaller (free) is better than Windows crippled version which seems to protect some installations(try getting rid of Nortons!)& doesn't get rid of them from registry;which must be done manually-in fact search for all files&delete.(Manually) |

I'd hazard a gues that it is an Installshield or Windows Installer (.MSI) problem, more likely the former if it only effects Installshield/DemoShild/Packager For The Web generated installations. HAve a look at Installshield Consumer Central (consumer.installshield.com). You may need to delete your Programe Files\Common Files\Installshield\.....\Engine folder and/or use MSIZap to stop/clean any incomplete installations/uninstalls. |
