360367 2005-06-01 21:57:00 Seemed to have sorted this but I thought I'd post it as a rather interesting problem.
I have a TT Tsunami case and it has "a screwless" PCI slot arrangement.
A plastic thing with separate plastic clip holder things, dunno what you call them. All well and good but about a month or so ago I bought a MSI X850XT graphics card. This has a very wide back - instead of one slot at the back it takes up 2. With me so far?
Not a problem as with my MB theres tons of space.
The card has been running fine with this arrangement all this time until this morning. Went into email and it shut off.
Rebooted, no probs, clicked Email again, shuts off. Did this 4 times.
Took PC apart, couldn't see anything obvious. Not overheating or anything.
So for lack of a better idea I removed the plastic PCI card retainer thing and used screws to attach my cards - discarding the screwless arrangement altogether. (The case allows for this)
Voila, so far so good. No rebotting as yet and I've left it running for a good 1/2 hour so far.
I think it wasn't holding the graphics card in right.
Anyone else come across this sort of thing? I think its partly cause of the X850XT being so wide acroos the back.....
