Hostfile: [Edit: I've removed the customised host file that was posted as it had active links displayed that if followed might of resulted in the users machines being infected with malware or their browser being hijacked. | 360610 | 2005-06-03 06:58:00 | That is a good host file that has been used to prevent users viewing websites that are not supposed to (it won't load that website if that URL is clicked or entered into the address bar) A bad host file will have Symantec, AVG, Microtrend etc all listed with a 127.0.0.1 which stops the user loading those sites to get the fix for their virus/trojan problem. |

| 360612 | 2005-06-03 07:15:00 | If your host file only had this single line: 127.0.0.1 localhost Then that is fine. I am presuming you found that other host file I edited off the internet somewhere otherwise you would of known what it was and why you had it? Yes, get a third opinion from a different online Antivirus scanner to confirm that Pandascan gave you a false positive. You did mention before that your machine was running really slowly, is that still happening and do you have any other unusual behaviour from the machine? |
