2005-06-03 19:27:00 | Ok this is what happened. One day there was a power surge in my apartment and my computer crashed. I open my computer and see that the CD-rom drives aren't functioning. I uninstall and reinstall the drivers and whatnot and still. Is there any possible way that I can get them back without reformatting :(? Here's a pic of what I'm getting. Can you make anything out of it? img30.echo.cx (http://www.imageshack.us)

2005-06-04 02:48:00 | DrSpy has told you - check the drives in another PC to see if they are dead or not. If not, then your motherboard is damaged. | pctek (84) | |
2005-06-04 02:56:00 | once you have check that the drives are ok, slave them to the hardrive ie use the ide cable the hardrive is connected to. if the drive dosn't show up its a windows/driver problem. also booting with a boot disk should tell you if its an OS problem or hardware. | tweak'e (69) | |
2005-06-04 03:07:00 | Does the BIOS show them as present? If the BIOS can't see them, there is a problem. ;) | Graham L (2) | |
2005-06-04 03:22:00 | wo wo, what am I gonna do, just unplug them off my computer, and check them on another. I don't think I know how to do that. Thats ridiculous.. | gok1025 (8268) | |
2005-06-04 03:34:00 | Well go into the BIOS then, and make sure the ide ones are on AUTO. And as said, if the BIOS doesnt detect either cd, then something is wrong. Do the cds appear when u boot up on the post screen? Who installed the dvd burner and dvd? And what IDE connection did they put them on? And how is the SCSI CD connected? is a SCSI connection onboard or have u got a PCI card?

2005-06-04 03:37:00 | wo, wo, speedy, you're too smart and fast for me. All I know is that the cd's don't appear at all when I insert them in. Not even the small lil icon :( | gok1025 (8268) | |
