Are the cables connected correctly? Jumpers set right? Well, my cousin installed a game on the computer and then it crashed. The game was supposed to be backwards compatable. :groan: |

The OS is Win ME (running on a Dell 8100) no virus protection that i know of BIOS v . 806 Pent 4 lvl 2 Cache . . . and as stated above in the other response my cousin installed a new game that resulted in the crash :annoyed: |

| 361376 | 2005-06-06 06:14:00 | Are you sure it says Primary Hard drive not found? And where does it say this - in the BIOS? If so, it would mean the PC is not finding the hard drive connected to it at all, which could be cables, jumpers not correct or the HDD has died. It didn't say O/S not found or something? Can see a game perhaps corrupting some system files but not killing hardware..... Still need more info from you really. |

| 361380 | 2005-06-08 23:30:00 | The HD is fine i think "I think" doesn't sound good . We have lots of dells(~1500) at my other work, and have had no end of Hdd issues, mostly Maxtor Drives just plain die-ing, ~5 a week, so a Hdd dead on a dell would not surprise me at all . :badpc: If it just plain gave you the "Primary Hdd0 not found", I would suspect that the Hdd is plain old dead . Grab the dell Diagnostics CD that came with the PC and biff it in and see what it says, they're normally pretty accurate with diagnosing whats gone wrong . |
