361361 2005-06-05 07:36:00 I love my computer.... just think of how much time i would send sleeping if it wasn't for it.... I may even remebr what my wife looked like....

I have had a very bad day, I did my normal week scan with spybot and adware and found a whole lot of nasties (87) so let it remove them...

Cool till I rebooted the machine....

Now I have lost my quick luach bar, my exploer ion from the desk top as well as my half my shotcut's....
then when i went and looked in the start bar i found that assceries had also been wiped (along with my spell checker, sorry)... as well as some 7 shot cut's from there as well, so no defeg, no calc, no exploer, no god knows what...

I went into the add/remove and tried to remove / install them... no luck...

I went into spybot and asked it to resotre... no luck.....

I am lost... can anyone help......

361362 2005-06-05 08:07:00 assuming your using xp, can you try system restore?
failing that, can you still access control panel and create another account?

Are you able to right click Start, click on Properties and the Taskbar tab? If so, check that Show Quick Launch is ticked.

This shows how important comp play in our daily life... sorry tech501, can't help you coz me no know understand NE funky n short lang. (just joking). If I am not mistaken, spybot automatically creates a restore point before cleaning out the nasties. As someone suggested above, try accessing your system restore and undo back the time.

Cheers :)

361365 2005-06-05 21:47:00 Do a repair. Boot off the CD and from the install choices, choose repair. Then re-create whatever desktop icons are also missing.
Yes Spybot does create backups, if you leave that option ticked, but if you unticked it...well. Personally I wouldn't restore it as you'll restore all the spyware back. Just repair the missing stuff.
Or do it from add/remove win components.
