| 361563 | 2005-06-06 03:05:00 | Audacity is a good freeware audio editor, with nothing too flash. In terms of sequencing, if are looking at doing loopology work, you'd be best off forking out for something like Adobe Audition, or something similar to that. |

I've stuck with PowerTrax Pro Audio V9 www.pgmusic.com (the same company that make Band-In-A-Box, a great midi programming for creating new tunes). It's only USD$49, and you can download off the site with a CD mailed out. Good luck P.S - If you're editing EXISTING midi files, Powertrax is the one. If you're CREATING NEW, have a look at Band-In-A-Box, same website. Searching for free midifiles go to http://www.musicrobot.com. |

| 361568 | 2005-07-21 03:02:00 | You could try looking for the Computer Music magazine - it comes with a DVD with sequencing software called Computer Muzys and a few VST plug-ins. This can handle both MIDI, wave audio and synthesiser plug-ins, as well as applying audio effects on particular tracks. It's also skinnable, and you can find a range of skins on the DVD or on the magazine's website (including one I created called "Cyber Blue"). The magazine retails for around $25-$30 in NZ since it's a UK magazine. BTW, the DVDs are loaded with audio samples, if you're into that sort of thing. I use it mostly for MIDI - it's really helpful for tweaking the controls like reverb, panning, etc. and adjusting volumes via a graph view to make music sound more natural. Or you can use MIDI hardware to capture your own performances into certain tracks. Hope this helps. -D. McG |
