361204 2005-06-04 05:37:00 What is the easiest/simplest way to synchronise folders between different machines on a home (wired) lan.
- 2 * desktop, WinXP + laptop also once finshd dwnload Vector Lnx.

New mp3's, photos etc end up being loaded to one machine or other so need a simple (automated?) way to synchronise these folders on other machines when pcs are connected.

Some software? or have I overlooked something obvious in windows.

Easy2syncfiles (www.snapfiles.com)
SyncBack (www.majorgeeks.com)

361206 2005-06-04 07:47:00 Don't know if it's exactly what you're after, but Windows has a feature called Briefcase (which you can read about in detail the Windows Help file) which lets you create a sync folder on one machine (right click - select 'new' - 'briefcase') and then drag folders from the networked machine drives into it. You can then update the folders contained in the briefcase at any time if they are changed on one machine or the other... obviously also great for mobile work situations if you make changes to a file on a laptop and want the 'master' (network drive) version updated when you're back in the office etc. joe_exception (2874)
361207 2005-06-04 08:00:00 I have used SmartSync Pro for several years to sync three computers.
Works really well to an automatic schedule.

361208 2005-06-04 08:02:00 I have used SmartSync Pro for several years to sync three computers.
Works really well. I have it set up to automatically sync each evening to a chosen schedule. Works over wired and wireless LAN.
