| 1386689 | 2014-10-22 22:54:00 | I need to get a printer for use at home. Doesn't need to print colour. Having a bit of difficulty deciding what's best. The requirements are as follows... Cheap running costs < 1 or 2c per page ideally Wireless connectivity Scanner/ADF Android print/scan I've been looking at the Brother MFC7860DW, which ticks all the boxes, but seems to be a little on the dear side...I wouldn't mind an inkjet, but they do seem likely to cost more in the long run. Anything you guys and girls would recommend particularly? Thanks! :) |

As allways, look at cost of consumables & long many pages per cart. Its a pain if the the ink cart is too small & it constantly needs replacing They would all be pretty much the same quality around the same price bracket, with a few exceptions . I have found HP mfc's are more likely have terrible software(ie crap) compared to the other brands |

| 1386691 | 2014-10-22 23:25:00 | The Canon MX436 I have here supports what you listed. Its wireless, supports Airprint, And it's also a fax. You can even install an app for it, then scan with a smartphone from the scanner. Only thing it doesnt have is a card reader. But thats cool, the PC has a 3.5 card reader At the mo, the 3 PC's here can print to it wirelessly Dont like brother printers. Some of them maybe cheaper, but they use too many cartridges (4 most of them). Compared to the one I use now (2 cartridges) |

No wifi though. Then you could afford to also buy a cheap inkjet mfc for scanning & color printing. www.pbtech.co.nz |

| 1386694 | 2014-10-23 00:40:00 | Fair comments guys - I've not really kept up with printer prices at all for some time, guess I expected some of those features to be more common on dirt cheap printers. Perhaps the brother I've already mentioned is the best option. It's just for my own use at home, so the duty cycle etc doesn't need to be huge - the Brother's are about right. I don't have any Linux machines, just PCs and a couple of Macs that are around occasionally. |
